It's been a while, and as a club we’ve been pretty busy with regattas and training, and getting back to COVID normal. It's so nice to see numbers increasing at training as the weather gets warmer, and everyone being COVID safe at training. This is a recap of September and October and some news about happenings for November.
September/October Regattas
Dragon Boat
DBNSW’s Regatta Series Round 1 on the 11 October was the first of the 2020-21 season. BlueFins took part in the 200m 10s Premier Opens regatta. In a strong field of mostly men’s crews, we entered with a mixed boat! Our results were still very respectable, coming in 3rd in all our heats behind men's crews, but more importantly a whole boat length in front of the 4th and 5th placed teams. Big kudos to Gerardette who steered in her first regatta and did so well keeping us straight and true, she is well on her way to full sweep/steering accreditation.
Great Job to the race participants – Brittnee, Annie, Lu, Jess, Erdal, Ben, Brian, David, Liam, Henry, Aldo, Jonathan, Li-ray and our sweep Gerardette!

Outrigger
6 BlueFins took part in the first Outrigger canoe regatta of the season held by Pacific Dragons at La Perouse, and special thanks to Erdal for volunteering to be our Covid Co-ordinator, spectator, supporter and overall awesome person!
BlueFins fielded a mixed crew in the 8km short course race and came in 4th in our category and there were lots of more experienced canoes behind us! Corp event/Open day - CrossFit RJ
Sunday, 8 November from 10-11am
We will be conducting a corporate event/open day for CrossFit RJ of Broadway with a simple BBQ breakfast after at Pyrmont Park.
Regular club training will still happen at 8.45am.
CrossFit RJ is a Crossfit Box(gym) located at Broadway, and has previously had an open day with us before 6 years ago. It was through this open day that we indirectly recruited David Watson. The aim of this event is to let the gym members experience Dragon Boating.
