Get to know our 2025 / 2026 team.
We've prepared a short introduction to each member of our team so you can get to know them better. These individuals are truly special—not only for the work they do every day, but also for the time they generously give to support our local community. Whether it's helping out at parkrun or contributing their time and energy to Berrinba Runners, their commitment to making a difference is something we’re incredibly grateful for and proud of.
Club President – Liam Wilson.
Liam loves long romantic walks on the beach, but also loves a quiet night and home with pizza and bubble o bill ice cream. Liam runs because he loves pizza and bubble o bill. You’ll often find Liam running a couple of loops around Berrinba if not he will be at the local buffet. Liam is much like one of those hairless cats, ugly on the outside but does his best to let his personality shine through.

Vice President and Coach – Brendan (Brendo) Watt.
What can we say about our VP and Coach Brendan, is he a bit of enigma, I think not, from what I understand Brendan likes long walks / runs in Karawatha, and his favourite colour is green. As our Friday coach we always look forward to Brendan’s social media posts where you might see he transforms into someone exciting and new each week. He not only keeps us fit while coaching, he also keep us entertained. Brendan is also an active volunteer of the Berrinba parkrun event team as a run director and has recently been appointed as a parkrun Outreach Ambassador.

Treasurer – Kris Humphrys.
Kris started his running journey in early 2018 as a way to get fit. He discovered parkrun that May and has been a regular at the Berrinba event ever since, often with his family. Through parkrun, he found the Berrinba Runners and quickly fell in love with the camaraderie and support of the group. Kris enjoys both road and trail running, with a special preference for 10k events. He served as the club's president from 2021 to 2025, helping the Berrinba Runners grow and supporting countless others on their own running journeys. In 2025, Kris stepped down from the president's role and took on the position of treasurer.

Secretary and Coach – Shannon Stevenson.
Shannon Stevenson, known affectionately as ‘Stevo’, began her running journey in 2014. Not long after, she discovered parkrun and became part of the event team at Berrinba parkrun. Shannon has been involved with Berrinba Runners since before its official establishment as a club and has always been passionate about helping others achieve their walking and running goals. Over the years, she and Coach Adam have played a key role in bringing the team together at various running events, fostering a strong sense of friendship and camaraderie. One of the most rewarding aspects of Shannon’s involvement is making people feel welcome and contributing to the club’s ability to offer affordable, local training opportunities. Her dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive environment has made a lasting impact on the community. Shannon also serves as one of our club coaches, where she can continue to guide members on their fitness journeys.

Social Media & Event Coordinator – Angie Hamilton-Coombs.
Angie has been in the fitness game since 2005 as a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor, but it wasn’t until Valentine’s Day in 2015 that she truly fell in love. One parkrun and boom….cupid swapped arrows for shoelaces! Since then she’s collected start lines like race medals: Queenstown Marathon, a few Half Ironmans (yep, that level of “fun”) but the Brisbane Half Marathon is her one true love. That date is permanently on the calendar. What she loves most? The unwavering “Green Team” vibes and camaraderie you only get with Berrinba Runners. She’s pumped for the 2025/26 journey - ready to celebrate every PB, every comeback story, and every sweaty high-five along the way. Not running? You’ll find Angie at the drink station, where she holds the prestigious title of Chief Hydration Officer - handing out water bottles like a pit-crew ninja and cheering like it’s cardio.

Membership Officer - Megan (Luna) McDonnell.
Hi, I’m Meg, and I’m excited to be your new Membership Officer! Think of me as your personal hype buddy—I’ll probably be the one cheering the loudest (sometimes even louder than the finish-line bell 🛎️). My goal is to make sure you feel at home with the club from your very first run.
I love meeting new people, hearing their running stories, and sharing plenty of encouragement along the way. And yes, I’m a big believer that post-run coffee totally counts as recovery fuel ☕. Whether you’re chasing PBs, running your first 5k, or simply here for the banter and good vibes, I’m here to cheer you on and help you feel part of the crew. Welcome to the team!

Merchandise Coordinator – Tarina Lake.
Hi, I’m Tarina—a passionate runner who loves everything from Parkruns to marathons. I’m also a proud mum of three energetic boys and a huge Taylor Swift fan (there’s always a Swift song on my running playlist!). One of my favourite things about this role is seeing our crew in their merch—it creates such a strong sense of team spirit and pride. I love helping people feel connected and part of something meaningful. That’s what makes this role so special to me.

Head Coach – Adam Shannon.
As one of the founding members of Berrinba Runners, Adam focuses all his attention on building our coaching team & running our inhouse events. Thanks to Adam's previous work in merchandise, we have a wide variety of green merchandise available ranging from singlet, sleeved shirts, jackets, trucker caps and visors. Adam also heads up our coaching team and runs weekly coaching sessions for our group. Adam is the founding event director of the local Berrinba parkrun.

Coach – Peta Smith.
Peta Smith started running back in 2013 and is also one of the founding members of the local Berrinba parkrun event team. Peta is a qualified coach leading ad hoc social trail runs in Karawatha on Sundays and providing sessions every Monday afternoon, coaching members on stretching, rolling, self-trigger point and strength techniques to improve mobility and prevent injury. Peta is a busy mum and grandmother of 6 and works full time as a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist, owns and operates local massage business Liniment Bliss

Coach – Alison Read.
Alison or Coach Ali as we all know her, is a very busy and active member of the Berrinba Runners team. Ali loves to run. Short, long, roads or trails, if it’s running, she is there, especially if there are other Berrinba Runners to look out for along the way! Ali is also one of the founding team members at Berrinba parkrun and Berrinba Runners. Ali also runs Alison Read Fitness, and coaches at the Logan West Aquatics Centre. Ali is a supportive team member and when she isn’t running, she is at our events supporting our team.

Coach – Rick Thomson.
Rick has been running since about 2015 when a mate introduced him to Berrinba parkrun. From there he met a few crazy individuals that started talking him into doing some longer events and coming along for some social runs on the weekends. It didn’t take too long he had the bug, from then running has pretty much been Life! Over The last two years Rick has been coaching his own children and kids from the Jimboomba Little Athletics club, so he decided to do a couple of coaching courses to help gain some more knowledge. Rick really enjoys putting the new knowledge to use and seeing some great achievements and performances from these young athletes. Rick joined the Berrinba Runners Team as a coach and loves helping people reach their goals while continuing to help people set some new benchmarks in their own running journey’s.

Coach - Chris Wilson.
Chris began running in 2015 and completed her first parkrun at Rocks Riverside. Since then, she has taken on three marathons and two ultra-marathons, and now prefers trail running for the variety and ever-changing scenery it offers. Chris describes herself as more of a plodder than a sprinter, but is always keen to keep improving in any way she can. In 2024, Chris became a coach for the club as a way to meet more people, give back to our running community. Chris loves supporting and volunteering for our club.

Coach – Terry Hamilton.
Terry got back into running about six years ago—mainly to prove to his wife that he was actually a decent runner back in the day. What started as a bit of fun quickly reignited a passion from his younger years. These days, he runs to keep up with his kids and stay active. He joined the club five years ago and stepped into a coaching role about a year ago. For Terry, the best part of coaching is seeing runners grow in confidence and smash goals they never thought possible. When he’s not out clocking up the kilometres, you’ll probably find him off the grid—camping, exploring in his 4x4, or spending quality time with his family.
