Annette Holt - Awarded VCA Heritage Badge

Beechworth Croquet Club, chose our earliest registered player, Annette Holt to be our Heritage Badge recipient. Annette was surprised and delighted to receive this award. The badge was presented by President Allan Holt with Secretary, Maria Harvey representing NEDCA. The badge is now proudly worn on Annette’s croquet hat.

Annette’s interest in Croquet began in 2008 when she joined the Warracknabeal Croquet Club. While there she learnt Golf Croquet and also competed at Horsham and Donald. A highlight was helping to celebrate the centenary of the Warracknabeal Croquet Club.

In 2012 Annette joined the Beechworth Croquet Club which at that time had 6 players. Annette learned to play Association Croquet. Subsequently, the Club underwent a revival and Golf Croquet was re-introduced. Husband Allan, an inaugural squash player, also became a member at Beechworth.

In 2014 Annette and Allan were the winners of the NEDCA Golf Croquet Doubles Championships 8 – 12 Division. NEDCA Pennant has been another challenge that Annette has enjoyed.

A generous worker for the club Annette can be relied upon to help out wherever she can. Many visitors have appreciated her home made soups and sausage rolls on those cold Pennant days.

We look forward to Annette’s continued involvement in the Club, her cheery and welcoming manner is much appreciated as is her patient and gentle tuition of new social players.
