Balmain Rowing Club Anzac Day Dawn Memorial Row 2026

On Saturday, 25th April, we will be holding our Anzac Memorial Dawn Row to pay tribute to Balmain Rowing Club’s Anzacs.

We invite all BRC members to be a part of of this memorial event. Rowers who wish to participate are asked to RSVP via the link asap to secure a seat in a boat.  There will be a cap on the numbers.

Brief run sheet for the morning -

  • All crews meet on the pontoon at 5.00am sharp. It is important that everyone arrive on time and move quickly to get boats on the water.
  • First crews row out to the end of White Horse Point and wait for the other crews to join them.
  • Once all crews have assembled the ode of remembrance will be read, then the laying of eleven floral tributes for our BRC oarsmen who lost their lives during WWl. This will be followed by a minute silence.
  • All crews will row together in a memorial flotilla down Iron Cove - assembling in front of UTS.
  • On our return all crews will compete in the 500m ‘Dardanelles Dash’.
  • Back at the shed there will be an Anzac breakfast for everyone, then we step back in time and read entries from the war diary of BRC’s soldier oarsman Pte John Booth during his time at Gallipoli.
  • Again we plan to have our piper playing on White Horse Point as we row out.

Further instructions, crews etc will be sent closer to the day. If you have any questions you can contact Beverley at archivist@balmainrowingclub.com
