The HART Sport Inner City Zone Championships is on Saturday 6 December and Sunday 7 December 2025 at ES Marks Athletics Field, Moore Park - Enter via Boronia Street, Kensington.All Balmain athletes in the 7s-17s age groups can participate if they apply.
 
Zone Championships are conducted in each of the 24 Zones throughout NSW. Balmain is in the Inner City Zone along with Eastern Suburbs, South Eastern, Randwick-Botany, Canterbury, Inner West and Tiger Wests. There is no competition at KGO that weekend so come along, represent Balmain and compete on a synthetic track. Send any questions to info@balmainlac.org.au
 
Event entry is by athlete application. All Balmain athletes in the 7s-17s age groups can participate if they apply.
  • Athletes in the 7s-11s can compete in up to 4 events. Balmain can only enter four athletes in any 7s-11s event. Please include two reserve events.
  • There is no limit on the number of athletes that can compete in 12s-17s events. 12s-17s athletes can enter up to six events (it is not compulsory to do so).
  • The entry fee is $45 and includes the Zone entry cost, a Club Representative t-shirt and coaching contribution payment.
The parents of all competing athletes MUST commit to undertaking a rostered duty at the Zone Championship. The event cannot take place without the help of parents and carers.
 
Note for 7s to 11s athletes: We anticipate an over-subscription of entries in some events. Where more athletes apply than available places, selection will be at the discretion of the Club's Championships Team (considering athlete ranking, consistency of performance and attendance at Saturday Club competitions). Please include two reserve events so that the Championships Team can do its best to find events for all interested athletes.
 
A link to the Zone Volunteer Roster, Final Zone Program and Start Lists will be shared when available. A Newsletter will also be sent to all competing athletes with important information.
 
Competition Pathway/Progression: 7s are eligible to compete at HART Sport Zone Championships ONLY, 8s can compete at HART Sport Zone Championships and Coles Region Championships, and 9s-12s (being athletes born between 2014 and 2019) are eligible for the full Championship Pathway to State Championsips.
 

For athletes born between 2011 and 2013 - 13s (U14) to 15s (U16): There have been some changes to the pathway from HART Sport Zone Championships to Coles Region Championships to State Championships this year. You can no longer directly enter the NSW Junior Championships.

For athletes born between 2009 and 2010 - 16s (U17) & 17s (U18):You can enter directly into the NSW Junior Championships this year. However, if you'd also like to gain valuable experience there are still opportunities to get involved by participating in the HART Sport Zone Championships and Coles Region Championships.
