Kukkiwon Information Hub

Welcome to the Australian Taekwondo Kukkiwon Information Hub

Australian Taekwondo cover the processing of Kukkiwon Certification for Taekwondo Clubs across Australia. Affiliated Clubs can submit applications for both members of AUSTKD and non-members of AUSTKD. Kukkiwon Certification is the Internationally recognised Black Belt certification for World Taekwondo.

Kukkiwon Updates

With Kukkiwon Commission and Kukkiwon Office now operating, several updated regulations will impact our Member Clubs, we wanted to take this opportunity to confirm for you what those updates are:

    • 5th, 6th, and 7th Dan Applications will now take place via video evaluation through the Australian Kukkiwon Office.

    • 8th and 9th Dan Grand Masters who hold a Kukkiwon examiners qualification of 3rd Class or Higher, will be exempt from the requirement to submit supporting video evidence with the application provided they have been the recommending Master for the previous two Dan examinations. If this is not the case then supporting video evidence must still be submitted with a Dan examination application. Please note: This exemption will apply until the next KKW Master Instructors and Examiners course is held in Australia. After that course has been conducted, this dispensation will only apply to 8th and 9th Dan Grand Masters holding a 1st class examiner's certificate.

    • All Masters holding a 3rd Class or higher qualification, when applying for a 4th Dan certification, will be exempt from the requirement to submit supporting video evidence with the application.

    • Following the next Kukkiwon Master and Examiner course in Australia, all examiners must hold a qualification, after which the Dan Promotion Test Policy will be updated accordingly. Unfortunately there is no further update to when the next course might be held in Australia, however AT will advise as soon as more information is known.

    • Applications for the establishment of a Grading Panel must be made via the AUS TKD website. Grading panels must be approved by the AUS KKW Office and be issued with a grading panel number before the grading can occur. Grading Panel requests must be submitted a minimum of 6 weeks prior to the grading date.

What is a T-CON and why does each individual require a T-CON ID?

Kukkiwon have updated their promotion system for all Kukkiwon applications moving forward. The new system is called ‘T-CON’ – Taekwondo Connected. Every individual who is submitted to Australian Taekwondo for Kukkiwon processing, will now be required to become a member of T-CON and their T-CON ID must be provided upon application. Clubs can complete the T-CON application for their members or they can ask their members to complete this themselves.

Key steps:

Then proceed to complete the application, ensure to keep record of the T-CON ID that has been created for future applications.
