114th Annual Blues Awards Dinner

Published Wed 07 Dec 2022

The annual Blues Awards Dinner last night, organised by AU Sport at the Wine Cenre was a fun and exciting event with the Club nominated for a total of 9 awards.

  • Christian Alber and Olivia Hobby were awarded a University Blue each for their outstanding competition achievements this year
  • Tony Ward was awarded a Half-Blue for his competition performance
  • Susanne Wells, Deborah Brunet and Tony Choi were awarded Club Letters for their contribution to the Club over the last few years

Then the fun began with the finalists for 'Coach of the Year', 'Best Club' and 'Patron's Cup'.

AUJC won two of these prestigious awards. Michael Headland took out the 'Coach of the Year' which was fantastic and a fitting end to 2022 as this year is a milestone 50 years that he has been coaching the Club since he started in 1972 as a green belt!

There were four Finalists for the 'Patron's Cup' which is awarded to a club which had outstanding achievements in the past 12 months. Presented in recognition of Professor McWha’s support of Adelaide University Sport during his 10-year tenure as Vice-Chancellor. And the winner was AU Judo Club! The first time we've won this award in its 10 year history since it was first awarded in 2012.
