The trip will take place during July 2024 (German summer) and consist of training followed by sightseeing around Germany. Accommodation will consist of homestays with Judo families at KiK.

Greetings Adelaide University Judo Club, We at "Kampfsportschule im Klostergarten e.V. – Kik e.V." are delighted to introduce our association. Since 1993, we have been committed to offering a range of martial arts including Judo, Karate, Sumo, and self-defence across several districts in Berlin.

Our membership currently exceeds 400, with approximately 70% being children and adolescents. We also focus on Judo for the older demographic, boasting a significant number of practitioners over 30 who actively compete at national and international levels.

Our senior training group, consisting of around 60 men and several women, meets twice weekly for two-hour sessions, where they hone their Judo techniques and competitive skills. Moreover, we place a strong emphasis on Kata and Dan training. Astrid Machulik, demonstrating exceptional dedication, annually organises a four-day Kata seminar with Kodokan trainers and coordinates Dan preparation courses.

In collaboration with 23 volunteer coaches, many of whom are experienced Judoka, we run training bases in numerous Berlin schools. Here, we teach the fundamentals of Judo to children and teenagers, and specially prepare the most promising young Judoka for competitive sports at the sports school.

In our early years, the KiK men's team participated in the Judo Bundesliga, before the decision was made to invest more resources into youth development.

Our association is also proud to have initiated the national German individual championship for over-30s, attracting around 600 competitors, and has successfully hosted this event four times.

Beyond Judo, we value social interactions and organise various activities such as parties, soccer, skiing, Tatamisoccen, surfing, and training camps. We hope this gives you a glimpse into the spirit and activities of our club.

Warm regards from Berlin,

Martin Francke, KiK e.V
