Policies

How we work for you

Our policies embody our values and beliefs. They stipulate how we will serve and add value to you. They also serve as a contract for how we will treat you, and each other as well.

Policies range from operational guidelines and codes of conduct through to board charters, member and child protection frameworks, and disciplinary processes.

Board Charter

As custodians of a non-profit state sporting organisation, the Board of Directors strive for excellence in all areas.

To ensure we operate in a fair, professional, and accountable manner, the Board have adopted a Charter which sets out the role, responsibilities, structure, and processes of the Board.

Directors' Standards of Behaviour

To ensure we live up to the expectations of our members and uphold the tenets of our martial art, the Board have adopted a set of standards of behaviour for Directors (the Standards). These Standards align with best governance principles and are modelled on the Australian Institute of Company Director’s member code of conduct.

It is vital that Directors conduct themselves in a professional and appropriate manner, both amongst themselves, towards others, and towards ATQ itself. Directors who fail to comply with the Standards face severe penalties, including potential removal from the Board.

Integrity in Sport

Integrity is the integration of outward actions and inner values. A sport that displays integrity can often be recognised as honest and genuine in its dealings, championing good sportsmanship, providing safe, fair and inclusive environments for all involved. A sport that generally displays integrity has a level of community confidence, trust, and support behind it.The impact of this cannot be underestimated.

ATQ have adopted a set of policies aimed at ensuring the integrity of our sport, from match management right through the decision making processes of the Board. These policies are extensions of our global Integrity in Sport Policy, in conjunction with Sport Intergrity Australia Policies.

Member Protection Policy

Australian sporting organisations have legal obligations under Australian law in regard to harassment, discrimination, and child protection. We also have moral obligations in relation to establishing standards of appropriate member behaviour, and to provide safe, respectful, and appropriate training and sporting environments.

Australian Taekwondo Queensland Inc. endorses these obligations under a general policy area termed, “Member Protection.”

ATQ endeavours to conduct all activities in a positive environment where participants have equal rights and opportunities to foster and develop their passion for the sport and martial art of Taekwondo. Through the introduction of formalised Member Protection practices, ATQ will maintain a positive focus and be recognised as offering member services according to the principles of best practice at all times.

Our State Member Protection Policy is derived from the National Member Protection Policy adopted by Sports Taekwondo Australia, and binds our members, staff, volunteers, and member organisations.

Standards of Behaviour

As the representative body for Taekwondo in Queensland, we have a responsibility to maintain and enhance the reputation and perception of Taekwondo in the eyes of the broader community. To do this, we must all act in a manner that is in line with the tenets and ideals of Taekwondo. We are all accountable for our actions.

To assist in maintaining these high standards, the Board have implemented the following Standards of Behaviour:

  • General Standards – which apply to everyone involved in Taekwondo and ATQ; and
  • Official/Volunteer Standards;
  • Athlete Standards; and
  • Worker Standards of Behaviour.

These last three apply in addition to the General Standards, just like the Directors’ Standards apply to Directors in addition to the General Standards outlined here.
