Athletics North Queensland will host a Fundamentals of Officiating Workshop at Tolga Sports Ground (Tablelands Athletics Club), on Saturday August 8th.  Officials are essential to the smooth running of competitions, and this workshop introduces officiating at both school and club level.  Those wishing to apply what they have learned are encouraged to volunteer at their local athletics club throughout the rest of the season.

The workshop will be practical, covering the role of an official and key information needed to help run a school or club competition.  Participants will have an opportunity for a Q & A following the conclusion of the workshop.  Parents, teachers and volunteers welcome.

The workshop covers a range of officiating topics, including:

• General Rules
• Event Specific Rules
• Applying the rules
• Safety
• Recording
• The role of the official at an event site

 

IMPORTANT: Participants must be 14 years or older to attend this workshop

What to bring:  Pen and paper, sunscreen, hat, water, and suitable clothing for the practical component
