Athletics North Queensland will host a Fundamentals of Officiating Workshop at Gordonvale on Saturday July 18.  Officials are essential to the smooth running of competitions, and this workshop introduces officiating at both school and club level. 

Participants must attend on Saturday. Those wishing to apply what they have learned are encouraged to volunteer at their local athletics club throughout the rest of the season.

 The workshop includes both theory and practical components, covering the role of an official and key information needed to help run a school or club competition.

*Please note that this is not an accredited World Athletics or Australian Athletics course.

The workshop covers a range of officiating topics, including:

• General Rules
• Event Specific Rules
• Applying the rules
• Safety
• Recording
• The role of the official at an event site

 

IMPORTANT: Participants must be 14 years or older to attend this workshop

Time:  9:00am - 4:00pm

What to bring:  Pen and paper, sunscreen, hat, water, and suitable clothing for the practical component
