Nippers is an intensive program held over 2 weeks following Christmas each year that is designed for children to develop knowledge of water safety and surf awareness.

During their last year of the Nipper Program, Under 14 Nippers (aged 13 as at 30 September 2019) undertake training for the Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC). This award teaches basic first aid, resuscitation and surf rescue skills enabling candidates to become training cadet lifesavers who can take part in beach patrols.

The SRC is a 20 hour course which is run in conjunction with the Nipper sessions with each session running an extra hour and one evening session added. Course dates/times can be viewed here. Under 14 Nippers will meet at the beach on the first session and after that they will be told where to meet each day - the beach or the RSL.

Cost: $60 plus membership (covers training manual and Life Saving Victoria award processing).

This year we have set up tailored online registrations for each of the Nipper categories, so you only have to provide information that is relevant to you and your child, making the registration process simpler. We understand some parents may need to register a child in two or more categories but this should still be a relatively simple process.

Please follow steps 1 - 4  below before continuing to the online Nipper registration. Failure to do so will mean your child cannot be registered for this Nipper program.
