We're so excited to once more deliver a Silver Development Camp this year! With summer fast approaching, it is important to note that this years camp will be held from the 11th-16th of December and will be a residential camp, with candidates staying at Camp Wilkin and attending their IRB Drivers Course at the Anglesea Surf Lifesaving Club each day. This camp will see candidates participate and achieve their IRB Drivers qualification, allowing them to take on new roles on patrol, and open a range of new opportunities in surf lifesaving. Candidates will also help out with water safety on the adjacent Bronze Camp.

The IRB Drivers course provides participants with the skills and knowledge of patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. Please note that although this camp is a fantastic opportunity, there will be other opportunities to gain the IRB Drivers award throughout the season if you cannot attend the dates of camp.

A typical day involves:

• Boat handling and theory sessions
• Water sessions where participants are progressively given more autonomy throughout the course
• Helping out senior instructors with their Bronze theory classes/water sessions

The instructors are all highly qualified surf lifesavers and we also provide pastoral care and medical support from trained professionals. All meals are provided by Camp Wilkin for the duration of the course.

Participation requirements

• Must be a current financial member of Anglesea SLSC
• Must be at least 17 years old 
• Must be available to attend the entire course
• Must be able to provide evidence of being involved in the Club in other areas and demonstrate your commitment to continuing to contribute to Anglesea SLSC after the course.
• Must hold a Current Bronze Medallion (there will be an opportunity to requal on the camp) and IRB Crew Award
• Must hold a current Marine License
