Arafura Dragons will have a boat in the 2027 Ord River Marathon!

A spectacular 55km dragon boat paddling adventure held annually at Kununurra, Western Australia on the second Sunday in June.

The Course: The journey starts at the Lake Argyle Dam wall, winding through dramatic red rock gorges, fast-flowing shallow sections, and reedy riverbanks before finishing near Kununurra (traditionally at Lilly Lagoon or the Celebrity Tree Boat Ramp).

The Format: It is an endurance challenge rather than a high-speed race. Teams typically consist of 14 paddlers and a sweep who spend roughly six hours navigating the river, supported by food stops, morning teas, and safety boats along the way.
