After a busy Summer, paddlers and team management need a break, for recovery.
Likewise, our boats.
Aoraki Dragons will need about 8 weeks to get our boats back to our base (Owles Terrace, New Brighton) and to repair them.
[Update: as at Saturday 17 May, all Canterbury boats are at Owles Terrace, ready for repairs to hulls, seats etc. That is, there are none at Lake Rua or Kaiapoi]
So Aoraki will allow teams (if they want to) to start Winter training from the start of July. We have budgeted for having 13 weekly sessions, which will take you until daylight savings, when clocks go forward one hour at 2am on Sunday 28 September.
And after that weekend is when our next Summer season starts, with routine training. Yay.
