Winter Come & Try

Published Tue 07 Apr 2026

The Adelaide Tritons Water Polo Club has a long-standing history of fostering new talent in South Australia, primarily through its "Come and Try" initiatives. These programs are designed as low-pressure entry points for juniors and beginners to learn the fundamentals of the sport before committing to a full competitive season.

Commencing from the 27th of April we will be re-introducing this program and are seeking interested parties keen to be involved?

Program Evolution and Goals

While specific "Come and Try" dates shift annually based on the water polo season (typically running from late spring through summer), the core pillars of the Tritons' historical approach include:

Skill Development: Historically, the program focuses on "Flippa Ball" (a modified version of the game for younger children) and basic water polo drills like eggbeater kicking, ball handling, and swimming technique.

Junior Pathway: The club uses these sessions to feed into their U13, U15, and U17 teams. This pipeline has been vital for the club's survival and growth, especially during periods when pool access was limited.

Accessibility: Most historical "Come and Try" events are offered for free or at a very low cost (often just the pool entry fee) to encourage families to trial the sport without a financial barrier.
