Thankyou Adelaide Softball Community

Published Sun 30 Nov 2025

A huge thankyou to all the Adelaide Softball community (Players, umpires, coaches, scorers and volunteers) for being flexible and working with the competition to ensure every game was able to be played yesterday across all grades. After nearly 23mm of rain fell in a 12-hour period, to be able to get one main diamond up and playable by 3pm was an incredible effort and assisted in causing minimal disruptions to the remainder of the competition.

Of course, we cannot forget the man our state volunteer of the year award is names after, Roo Weaver, who was on deck at 8am, and remained at the venue until 4pm, working hard to ensure the Premier League had a main diamond to play on. Again, we can’t control the rain, but we can control what we do to respond to it.

Finally, a massive thankyou to Ben Lucas and Matt Sutton, the Premier League Port Adelaide and West Torrens coach. Whilst it wasn’t I’m sure there first choice to play late on the Saturday night, both engaged in very professional and beneficial conversations to ensure the game could be played, as other possibilities were going to either cause competition integrity issues, or player availability issues later in the week. Its people like these, that put the competition over personal gain which ensure the best outcome can be had for the competition and Softball in Adelaide. Let’s hope the rain has been and gone, and summer can finally hit. See you all on the diamond soon.
