About Life Through Football Academy
Life Through Football Academy (LTFA) is a growing grassroots football academy based in Sydney’s St George area.
Our youngest-player program, LTFA TOTS, introduces children aged approximately 18 months-5 years old to movement and football through a Learn Through Play philosophy.
At this age, football is only one part of what we are teaching. Our sessions use imaginative games, storytelling, movement and age-appropriate football activities to help children develop:
· Confidence
· Coordination and gross motor skills
· Social interaction
· Listening and attention
· Independence
· Basic football skills
· A positive association with physical activity
Our aim is to create an environment where children feel safe, engaged and excited to participate.
About the Role
We are looking for energetic, warm and confident coaches to deliver our TOTS sessions at local childcare centres and LTFA venues.
This role may particularly suit university students studying sport, coaching, education, physical education, early childhood or other related fields.
You do not need to be an elite footballer. For this role, your ability to engage young children, communicate clearly, bring energy and create fun is just as important as your football knowledge.
If you are comfortable roaring like a dinosaur, hopping like a frog, pretending to drive a train and turning those moments into learning opportunities, you will probably enjoy this role.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Delivering fun and engaging TOTS sessions for children aged 18 months-5 years
· Following LTFA’s structured session plans and Learn Through Play philosophy
· Using imagination, storytelling and movement to maintain children’s engagement
· Introducing age-appropriate football and movement activities
· Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment
· Communicating professionally with childcare educators, parents and LTFA staff
· Managing equipment and session setup
· Representing LTFA professionally within childcare centres and the community
What We Are Looking For
Essential
· Must be 18 years or older
· Current or willingness to obtain a valid Working With Children Check
· Genuine enjoyment working with young children
· High levels of energy, enthusiasm and positivity
· Strong communication skills
· Reliable, punctual and professional
· Comfortable leading groups of young children
· Willingness to learn and receive coaching feedback
· Reliable transport between coaching locations
Highly Regarded
· Experience working with children aged 2-5
· Childcare, teaching, coaching or children’s activity experience
· Football playing or coaching experience
· Study in sport, coaching, physical education, teaching or early childhood education
· Experience delivering group activities for young children
Football experience is helpful, but personality, reliability and the ability to connect with young children are extremely important for this role.
What You Will Gain
LTFA provides structure and support to help our coaches develop.
· Ready-to-use lesson plans and activity ideas
· Training in our Learn Through Play coaching approach
· Practical experience working with young children
· Mentoring and feedback from experienced LTFA coaches
· Opportunities to develop confidence in communication and group management
· Exposure to childcare-centre and community-based coaching environments
· Opportunities for additional LTFA coaching hours as you develop
· Potential progression into coaching older age groups and other LTFA programs
The role can work particularly well alongside university study, with many sessions taking place during weekday mornings and daytime hours.
Physical Requirements
· Remaining active throughout sessions
· Running, hopping, squatting and kneeling
· Sitting on the ground and independently returning to a standing position
· Demonstrating movement activities
· Setting up and packing down equipment
· Maintaining consistently high energy while working with young children
How to Apply
Please email your resume together with a short introduction to info@ltfa.com.au outlining:
· Any experience you have working with young children
· Any football, sport or coaching experience
· Your current university studies
· Your weekday morning/daytime availability
Applications will be reviewed as they are received and the position may be filled once suitable candidates are identified.
