About Life Through Football Academy

Life Through Football Academy (LTFA) is a growing grassroots football academy based in Sydney’s St George area.

Our philosophy is centred around using football as a vehicle to help children develop confidence, resilience, social skills and a genuine love of the game.

We are not an elite-only academy. We work with children of different abilities and believe strongly that every child deserves a positive coaching environment where they feel supported, challenged and excited to improve.

Our sessions are designed to be engaging, energetic and development-focused, while maintaining a strong emphasis on connection, enjoyment and long-term player development.

About the Role

We are looking for enthusiastic football coaches to work with children aged approximately 5-12 years old across our afternoon academy programs.

This is a great opportunity for a university student studying sport, coaching, physical education or a related field who wants to develop practical coaching experience alongside their studies.

Depending on your experience, you may initially support an experienced LTFA coach before progressing into independently leading sessions. For candidates who already have strong coaching experience and demonstrate the required confidence and ability, opportunities to lead sessions independently are available.

Your role will include:

·        Delivering engaging football sessions using LTFA session plans and coaching frameworks

·        Helping players develop their technical skills, game understanding and confidence

·        Creating a positive, inclusive and energetic learning environment

·        Building strong relationships with players

·        Managing groups of children safely and professionally

·        Communicating professionally with parents, fellow coaches and LTFA staff

·        Setting up and packing down equipment

·        Representing LTFA and its values within the community

What We Are Looking For

Essential

·        Must be 18 years or older

·        Current or willingness to obtain a valid Working With Children Check

·        Strong communication skills

·        Reliable, punctual and professional

·        Comfortable working with children

·        Positive attitude and willingness to learn

·        Ability to bring energy and enthusiasm to every session

·        Reliable transport to coaching locations

Highly Regarded

·        Previous football coaching experience

·        Experience playing organised football

·        Experience working with children

·        Football coaching qualifications or currently working towards coaching qualifications

·        Sport, coaching, physical education or related university study

·        Confidence leading groups independently

Football experience is valuable, but just as importantly, we are looking for people who genuinely enjoy working with children and want to continue improving as coaches.

What You Will Gain

LTFA places a strong emphasis on developing our coaches, not simply giving them a session and leaving them to work things out themselves.

·        Ready-to-use session plans and coaching resources

·        Practical coaching experience with children across different ages and abilities

·        Ongoing mentoring and feedback from experienced LTFA coaches

·        Opportunities to observe and learn from other coaches

·        Support developing session delivery, communication and group management skills

·        Potential for additional regular weekly hours as you develop

·        Opportunities to progress into greater coaching and leadership responsibilities within LTFA

For the right person, this can develop into a consistent role alongside university and potentially continue well beyond your studies.

Physical Requirements

·        Running and demonstrating football activities

·        Remaining active throughout sessions

·        Squatting, kneeling and moving dynamically when required

·        Setting up and packing down football equipment independently

How to Apply

Please email your resume together with a short introduction to info@ltfa.com.au outlining:

·        Your football playing or coaching background

·        Any experience working with children

·        Your current university studies

·        Your general weekday afternoon availability

Applications will be reviewed as they are received and the position may be filled once suitable candidates are identified.
