Information for ACPE students about non-ACPE internships

You are free to complete any internship not associated with ACPE, please apply directly to the internship organisation. Note that Fair Work Australia has rules to protect students completing internships.

Internships are unpaid and need to relate to the content of the course in which you are enrolled. It is recommended that you complete the non-ACPE internship as part of ACPE's Industry Plus Program (IPP).

If you would like to gain Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for placement hours in ACPE Work Integrated Learning (WIL) units you will need to complete the internship as part of ACPE's Industry Plus Program (IPP).

Industry Plus Program (IPP) requirements

The Industry Plus Program is available to students who have:

  1. Completed at least
    • 8 units of an ACPE degree relevant to the internship (or will have by the start date); or
    • 4 units of an ACPE diploma relevant to the internship (or will have by the start date)
  2. Achieved a Credit Average within their studies or have significant relevant industry experience.

Participation in ACPE's Industry Plus Program requires cooperation from the employing organisation and the student's completion of some learning tasks. Organisations are required to sign the IPP agreement, assign a workplace mentor, approve the log of hours worked and complete a feedback report.

How to participate in Industry Plus Program (IPP)

To complete the internship as part of ACPE's Industry Plus Program (IPP):

  1. Ensure you meet the IPP criteria above.
