DirtyFeet is seeking applications from emerging choreographers for our 2026 Choreographic Lab Program. The Choreographic Lab provides a supportive environment where early career professionals can explore their creative practice. The Lab builds relationships between artists, develops methodology and skills, and can be the first step toward creating new work.

What is Included

• 2 weeks of supported development
• Studio space at Critical Path, Darling Point
• A NSW-based mentor
• Professional photographic documentation
• Basic film documentation of your showing
• Studio sharing hosted by DirtyFeet on Friday 17 April 2026, 4:00 - 5:00pm
• Administration and management support

Dates: 7-17 April 2026

Location: Critical Path, 1C New Beach Rd, Darling Point NSW

PaymenChoreographer payment: $2,400 + Superannuation

• Up to 4 dance artists: $2,200 + Superannuation each

Criteria

The Choreographic Lab aims to provide time and space for an emerging choreographer to test ideas, develop new work, and strengthen professional skills.

Applicants should:

• Be early career choreographers (within their first 5 years of practice)
• Work in contemporary dance (collaborations with other disciplines welcome)
• Be NSW-based or have a demonstrated practice in NSW

Present projects at any stage of development, with preference given to research or the creation of new work.

Important Dates

Applications close: 11.59pm Friday 30 January 2026
Notification of outcome: 9 February 2026

Selection will be made by members of the DirtyFeet Board and industry professionals.

Please note there is one round of submissions for the 2026 Choreographic Lab.

The selected choreographer will also participate in The Right Foot and Emerging Makers workshops, supporting professional growth and inclusive practice within DirtyFeet’s artist development programs.

Emerging Makers: 24 July, 31 July, 2 August, 10-12 August
