About the role 

DYFC has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated coach to support our development program that participants in the MWFA competition.  

Based on the Northern Beaches and reporting to the DYFC Executive Committee, the Coaching Director will provide quality technical coaching to the high-performance coaches of the DYFC Development Squads, delivering great outcomes for players and coaches including: 

• Develop training plans in-line with the principles of Football NSW and appropriate for the age groups of the children receiving training.
• Coach the Development Squad coaches on training plans, principles of Football NSW, dealing with challenges faced during training or game situations.
• Coaching of players on age-appropriate skills and areas of focus.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and structured programs to ensure that the Development Squad retains current player numbers.
• Assuming the quality of players remains at or above the current level, provide coaching, mentoring and structured programs to ensure that the Development Squad grows as compared to previous year numbers.
• Where possible, introduce initiatives/programs that will increase the overall appeal and registration volume of the Development Squad.
• It is intended that this is a part-time coaching position only, encompassing a grading period, pre-season and the MWFA season.  In total it is expected to be approximately 22 weeks, 3 weekdays per week, 3 hours per day and Saturday/Sunday requirements to observe games and coaches.  You will also spend time constructing training plans, reviewing coach and player performance and development. 
• Time permitting, you will have freedom to develop and create opportunities for school holiday camps, after school coaching programs, individual and group skills sessions.  There are profit-share opportunities with all additional coaching activities. 
• You will work with an Administration Coordinator, who will handle the communications with parents and club, website and marketing as well as the financial aspect of invoices and payments. 

About you 

• You hold a minimum Football Australia B License and have an understanding of modern coaching and physical conditioning techniques and methodologies 
• You are an excellent communicator and can engage with the community and players.  
• You have a strong commitment to community sport 
• You have excellent relationship building, planning coordination and organisational skills 
• You have demonstrated ability to operate with professionalism and integrity in challenging situations 
• You are self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team 
• You have or are willing to obtain a NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) 
• The remuneration for this position would suit a person who potentially has another job, but is looking to progress their coaching career by stepping into a role that has the responsibility of coaching both players and coaches as well as interacting with players and your administration coordinator.

About DYFC 

DYFC is the oldest club in the Manly Warringah Football Association and one of the oldest in Sydney.  Founded in 1946, the club has a long and rich history, which is currently experiencing an unprecedented revival.  Over the last several years, largely in part due to the success of our development program, DYFC has consistently been the fastest growing club on the Northern Beaches.   

DYFC has a roadmap to improve coaching across all aspects of the club, both with the development squad program as well as the community teams that are the backbone of DYFC.  The development squad and community teams are part of the one club and it is the expectation of the Executive Committee that these teams will collaborate between coaches and players wherever feasible to ensure that we are progressing and developing as a club. 

Additional Information 

The remuneration for this position will have a base salary of $25,000 and a profit-share component based on the gross profitability of the development squad program, with a maximum salary of $50,000 per year.
