Performance Analysis Intern

Purpose / Objectives: Assisting the Waratahs Performance Analysis department through their
Super Rugby Pacific 2024 season.

Overview

This position is a great stepping stone for a student studying a relevant subject to gain invaluable
experience by being a part of a professional Super Rugby team throughout our season. The chosen
candidate will become a valuable member of the Waratahs High Performance Unit, assisting the
Head Performance Analyst with day-to-day tasks beginning from pre-season to the summation of
the 2024 Super Rugby Pacific season.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Filming training sessions
  • Using Hudl SportsCode to cut, code and analyse training sessions and games
  • Managing footage on our online and local sharing platforms
  • Assisting in analysing and Trial and Super Rugby Games
  • Producing quantitative reports using Tableau & Sportscode
  • Assistant Head Analyst with Opposition Preview Reports
  • Developing Tableau based reporting on project specific KPIs
  • Assisting other staff and areas of the Waratahs High Performance Unit as required

Key Competencies

  • Completing or completed an undergraduate degree, diploma or graduate Certificate in
    Performance Analysis Sports Science or Human Movement (or other relevant tertiary
    degree)
  • Sound understanding, knowledge and/or playing experience in Rugby Union
  • Proficient in Excel/Numbers/ Keynote and other Microsoft and Mac OS programs
  • Preferred previous experience with data visualisation products such as Tableau
  • Previous exposure to Hudl Sportscode desirable
  • Highly enthusiastic, proactive, fast learning individuals who can work as part of a team

Duration

  • 8 Months (November 2023 - June 2024).
  • 1-2 Days per week as well as availability for all Home games during the season (mainly
    Saturday)
