Teams

The Kings are a professional sporting club that have competed in the National Basketball League (NBL) since 1988. The Kings are current NBL Champions, have four championships to their name and have hosted many of Australia’s greatest past and present basketball legends. The Kings are based in Auburn and play their home games at Qudos Bank Arena in Olympic Park.

The Flames have competed in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) since 1992. They have won four national championships and their successful history has been paved by some of Australia's best basketball players and coaches. The Flames are based at PCYC Auburn and are coached by Australian basketball greats.

Program Details

The voluntary student positions will run the length of the 2022-2023 preseason and season (August 2022 - March 2023). The chosen candidates will be based at the King’s and Flames training facilities in Auburn. Candidates will be expected to commit 10-15 hours to the program per week.

Student duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with assigning, distributing and collecting wearable technology pre-and post-training sessions
- Assist with live GPS monitoring systems throughout training sessions
- Assist and oversee the collection of wellness, monitoring and strength and conditioning related data
- Assist in on-court warm-ups, strength and conditioning and recovery sessions
- Attend and contribute to performance department in-services

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

- Aspirations of working in professional sport
- Studying strength and conditioning or Sport Science 
- An understanding of athlete monitoring theories and principles

The chosen candidate will receive experience working in a professional basketball environment. Moreover, they will be exposed to all areas of the performance department and given the opportunity to gain practical/ experience in professional sport. The chosen candidate will also be given the opportunity to learn along a planned professional development pathway.
