About NSW Goalball

Goalball is a team sport played competitively by athletes with vision impairment. Goalball was first introduced to the Paralympics in 1976. As of 2017 there were 81 competing nations.

NSW Goalball is a State Sporting Organisation for people with Disabilities (SSOD) that delivers goalball programs, training, events and competitions within New South Wales.

NSW Goalball has the largest goalball member base in Australia and offers the largest school’s program in the world. In 2019, more than 7,200 school-aged children participated in Goalball programs which focus on disability awareness, inclusivity and physical literacy.

Off the back of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we are seeking to capitalise on the awareness and interest generated by the historic performance by our athletes at the Tokyo Paralympics.

As a result, we are recruiting Strength & Conditioning Program Coordinator to help develop our senior male and female athletes for success on the international stage.

This role is a perfect opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in working with state & national representative athletes.

  • Commit to attending 1 gym session per week during the season (generally 4 months of the year)* at ACPE where you will educate NSW Goalball players on the correct form, technique and benefits of the exercises within the program

  • Keep accurate and up to date records of athlete performance, tracking against co-designed metrics to illustrate objective progress and development

  • At all times, act in a friendly, professional and inclusive manner that makes our athletes and the wider community feel welcome

*once the program is established, attendance at every training may not be required. This can be flexible based on the Coordinator’s availability

  • Experience in Strength & Conditioning program development

  • Experience in coaching athletes
