Organisation: Football Coaches Australia (“FCA”)

About: Football Coaches Australia is “for coaches, by coaches”. Founded in November, 2017 as an association, FCA is governed by its constitution and the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 (NSW) and is the collective representative body of football (soccer) coaches in Australia. Further information can be obtained at https://footballcoachesaus.org.au/.

FCA recognises that coaches are an important stakeholder within the football community.  The role of FCA was recognised in 2021 with the acceptance of FCA as a provisional member of Football Australia – full members are the respective State Football Federations, Professional Footballers Australia, FA Women’s Football Council and Australian Professional League Clubs.

The objectives of FCA, pursued on a global scale, are to:

  • (a) set professional standards – leadership and aspirational values and high performance;
  • (b) represent and provide a collective voice for Australian professional football coaches;
  • (c) organise and provide continuing ‘re-validation’ professional development activities for Australian professional football coaches;
  • (d) provide opportunities for Australian professional football coaches to contribute intellectually to football decision making that impacts on their role;
  • (e) lobby for representation on the decision-making and operational bodies of football in Australia, including without limitation representation at the FFA Congress, to ensure FCA can work collaboratively with all football stakeholders;
  • (f) develop collaborative alliances with key Australian football stakeholders and overseas football coaching associations;
  • (g) actively pursue research to establish performance, expertise, development and wellbeing needs of professional coaches;
  • (h) organise and provide access to mental health well-being services;
  • (i) provide access to legal advocacy and education;
  • (j) organise and provide access to future financial planning advice and services to Australian professional football coaches; and
  • (k) to support and align with the development and incorporation of future state and regional community coaching associations.
