ABOUT PROJECT ROCKIT:

We are PROJECT ROCKIT, Australia’s youth-driven movement against bullying, hate and prejudice. Established in 2006, PROJECT ROCKIT balances a 15+ year track record of creating positive impact in mainstream school settings alongside the passion and innovation of a growing team of young movers and shakers. We’re a mixed bag of individuals brought together by a shared dream of creating inclusive spaces and opportunities for young people to be their best selves. So what do we do? PROJECT ROCKIT unites young people to challenge hate instead of standing by. We do this by empowering young presenters to deliver our signature school workshops, which mobilise school students with the empathy, leadership and skills to build respectful and inclusive communities. To date, we have positively impacted over 500,000 young people in communities all over Australia, with 99% of surveyed students reporting that they found our workshops more impactful than other (cyber)bullying education at their school (2020 Impact Report). Beyond the workshops, students are welcomed into a vibrant digital community with resources, campaigns and other opportunities to take positive action in their worlds. Currently PROJECT ROCKIT is on the cusp of national expansion and we are a recruiting dynamic team to help steer the ship. Finally, PROJECT ROCKIT is an official safety partner of Google, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, elevating young people’s voices to those in a direct position to engineer a kinder online world.

ABOUT YOU

As a PROJECT ROCKIT Program Presenter, you have

a) a strong passion for building a world where kindness and respect thrive over bullying, hate and prejudice, and

b) the highly developed communication skills needed to authentically engage large audiences of teens and empower them to take positive action. This is your opportunity to build a career mobilising young people to challenge (cyber)bullying, build social leadership and break down labels. As a Program Presenter, your day-to-day is delivering PROJECT ROCKIT’s award-winning workshops into Primary and Secondary schools across the Country. Building on your existing skills, you will be trained to lead our program content alongside a range of co-presenters, and use your unique skills and perspectives to create positive impact. Each workshop is structured but not scripted and comes to life through a mix of facilitated discussion, real stories, role plays and creative activities. Presenters also have the opportunity to contribute to workshop content, campaigns and special projects with our partners (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Kids Helpline and Twitter)

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

1. Strong experience in public speaking, facilitating or performing to large audiences with a demonstrated ability to connect and communicate with a wide range of people.

2. Education and/or equivalent work experience in engaging young people to create positive impact, with a great understanding of current youth culture.

3. Demonstrated ability both working autonomously to manage your own workplace administrative obligations and thriving as part of a team.

4. Strong literacy of working with diverse communities, including but not limited to, people of colour, LGBTQIA+ people, disability, and people from regional and rural areas.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Availability of 3–4 days per week during the school year and a minimum of 12 months commitment to the role (with a view to grow)

• Successful applicants must provide evidence of their COVID 19 Vaccination Status or valid exemption in accordance with the VIC Government’s COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination Directions

• Everyday access to a private vehicle for work use and Australian Driver’s Licence (travel expenses to be reimbursed). Please note: Independent transport is essential as this role involves regular travel to a range of schools (including where public transport is inaccessible). If you are unable to drive for accessibility reasons but have a viable alternate form of transport, please reach out to us.
