Go4Fun is a NSW Health initiative, it is a free 10 week healthy lifestyle program for children 7-13 years of age who are above a healthy weight and their families. The Go4Fun program enables children and their families to have fun and make friends while becoming fitter, healthier and happier. Programs run once per week after school (or on weekends) for 10 weeks during the school term.

The program is delivered by health professionals with background qualifications and experience in either nutrition/dietetics or exercise sports science/ physiology.

We are seeking expressions of interest from enthusiastic, experienced health professionals to facilitate the program in South Eastern Sydney (covering Eastern Suburbs, Georges Rivers and Sutherland Shire areas).

We are seeking both Theory/Nutrition Leaders and an Exercise Leaders – multiple roles available. Our Theory/Nutrition Leaders need to be able to facilitate a 1 hour nutrition based session with children and parents followed by a 1 hour parent-only session, while our Exercise Leaders facilitate a 1 hour activity session with the children. Full training is provided for all group leaders. Leaders must commit to the full 10 weeks for a 3 hour period per week (usually 3.30-6.30pm weekdays and 9.30am-12.30pm Saturdays). Competitive hourly rates apply.

Qualifications

  • Theory/Nutrition Leaders will have a tertiary qualification in nutrition, dietetics or similar
  • Exercise Leaders will have a tertiary qualification in exercise science, exercise physiology, personal training, sports coaching or similar
  • All leaders must hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • A current Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • A current drivers licence and own vehicle
  • Current public liability and professional indemnity insurance ($10 Million each)
  • Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status

Training requirements

Leaders must attend leader training (Monday 17th - Wednesday 19th of January 2022, 9am-1pm each day) if successful in the securing a position.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in group facilitation with children and or families
  • Demonstrated ability to engage children with a diverse range of abilities, motivation and interests in fun games and physical activities
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering a set course/ curriculum/ program plan to achieve a set out outcomes
