Football NSW Institute currently have an exciting opportunity for Exercise and Sport Science students to undertake in an internship throughout the 2021/22 season.
This internship is in the fields of Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science and Video Analytics with the elite women’s football pathway program teams of U13s – U18s who partake in the National Premier League NSW Women’s and the Football NSW Girls Youth League One competitions. This internship opportunity will provide eight (8) successful applicants with the opportunity to gain practical experience in programming, reporting, and analysing football in an elite youth environment.
Internship positions available for six (6) Sport Science/S&C and two (2) Video Analysts.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Liaise and work with the Head S&C Coach and Team Coaches on training and match days.
• Pretraining and match organisation in setting up fields with skills and drills as well as the subsequent pack up of this equipment
.• Collecting players RPE after each session and game; collecting weekly testing measures; assisting with data collection for both on and off field testing.
• Implementing and delivering all comprehensive prehab/rehab/RTP programming as prescribed by physiotherapists and rehab coordinators.
• Regular data entry and analysis into specific excel databases and generating relevant coaches’ reports.
• Filming on match (and some training) days.
• Download and distribution of footage to the Program Manager.
• Post-match analysis Applicants must have:
• Currently studying a degree in Sport and Exercise Science.
• Large availability from Late 2021 – October 2022; various days as well as weekend games.
• Must have knowledge of full Microsoft Office Suite (particularly with Word and Excel).
• Committed to being present, hands on, professional, proactive, innovative, and open minded.
• Great interpersonal skills and confidence to be able to communicate with coaches, players, and other key performance personnel.
• Valid WWC number and Drivers Licence.
• Willingness to complete relevant Play by The Rules Certificates (done online)
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• First Aid/CPR
• Knowledge in Football is desired, but not essential.
Location: Training: Valentine Sports Park, 235-257 Meurants Ln, Glenwood NSW, 2768 – Match Days differ from week to week. Timing: Commitment is 3 days per week depending (total of 9hrs), and applicant must be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays.
This is a role that requires individuals to have a high reliability and be able to think on their feet as it is a fast-paced environment. Individuals must also have high-level accountability.
