Hours

30 hours. Salary Position – Daytime, evening and weekend work required

Summary of the role

The Northern NSW Sport Officer is responsible for delivering programs to members in Northern NSW across the athlete development journey; AWARE, TRY, PLAY and EXCEL. The Northern NSW Sport Officer designs, organises and delivers these programs while assisting the Head of Sport and the rest of the Sports team to deliver large scale events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and develop strong and healthy relationships with schools, universities, rehab facilities, hospitals and all other potential member verticals.
  • Work closely with venues to ensure bookings are in place for the calendar year.
  • Attend occasional trainings to assist new participants to get involved.
  • Manage the equipment loan program for Northern NSW members to borrow sports chairs to take home.
  • Help service existing relationships with partners and sponsors.
  • Lead and deliver memorable events for members.
  • Provide sound financial management and control over each event as per budget provided.
  • Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service.
  • Live Wheelchair Sports NSW/ACT values.

Background/Experience

  • Able to demonstrate success in program delivery and management.
  • Experience in coaching/leading sporting events.
  • Involvement in a sports orientated organisation.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in marketing and public relations.
  • Sound understanding and ability to apply computer applications, such as the Microsoft Office suite of products.

Personal Attributes

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication and active listening.
  • Initiative and self motivation.
  • Ability to manage high workloads and meet deadlines within specific time frames.

Educational/Vocation Qualifications

  • Qualifications (or equivalent experience) in Sports Administration, Business or Education is desirable.
  • Experience working in the sport industry is advantageous.
