About the role: Working with Australian Taekwondo’s (AT) State-based Performance Pathway Centre’s (Sydney) to provide performance support in Physical Preparation (strength & conditioning / flexibility & movement) to individual athletes as a part of ATs Performance Pathway Programs activity delivery and any identified ‘integrated’ performance team. Implementing and driving a collaborative approach to planning, preparation and performance that optimises expertise to close ‘gaps’ to performance.

Responsibilities: 

  • Work closely AT National Performance Pathway Lead and State-based Performance Pathway Coaches to design, implement, and evaluate high quality and individualised physical preparation programs for AT Performance Pathway athletes
  • Ensure high level of rehabilitation programming, delivery and development provided to AT Performance Pathway athletes
  • Support AT coaches and staff in all aspects of physical preparation delivery and monitoring during National Camps and competition as requested.
  • Establish system to track and monitor the development of athletes through valid and reliable athlete profiling, aiming to continue progression toward world class.
  • Work closely with the Combat Institute of Australia, AIS and State Institute/Academy Partners and other combat sports to capture and utilise best and/or next practice.

Key Relationships:

  • To fulfil the responsibilities, the position will need to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with;
  • AT Staff - To support the delivery of an effective Pathway program.
  • Coaches - AT employed and network coaches within the Performance Pathway. Athletes – To support athletes so they can perform at their best.
  • AIS/NIN/STO’s - To enhance collaboration within the National system.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

  • Undergraduate degree in Exercise/Sport Science or similar
  • ASCA Level 2 or international equivalent
  • First Aid and Resuscitation certificate
  • Current Working with Children Check or equivalent.
  • The ability to design, plan and deliver training program to meet high performance objectives.
  • A highly developed understanding of the principles of physical preparation, high performance sport and the developmental requirements of pathway athletes.
  • Demonstrated track record of improving athletic performance through PP coaching.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams to enhance the successful delivery of the athlete pathway.
