ORGANISATION DESCRIPTION:
Water Polo New South Wales, is the recognised State Sporting Organisation of Water Polo in NSW. WPNSW holds the largest member base in Australia, boasts a broad base of events and services, and is constantly evolving and growing with contemporary Australian Sport industry trends.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Water Polo NSW is offering an Exercise and Sports Science internship. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with high-performance athletes and athletes within the NSW academy program. The role will consist of performance analysis along with S&C coaching and programming.
LOCATION:
Sydney Olympic Park, NSW
CONTACT TIME:
- 2x High-Performance State Team Trainings
- Development Camps (Weekends)
- Academy Program (Weekdays)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support coaching staff in planning and delivering strength and conditioning programme for state athletes (individual and group)
- Assist with athlete performance analysis (metric/fitness/strength testing)
- Conduct warm-ups and cool downs at Development Camps/Academy Sessions/Gym Sessions
- Assist athletes with any enquires surrounding training needs
REQUIREMENTS:
- Studying bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science or equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong work ethic and desire to learn
- Capability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
- Understanding of exercise/sport science principles of strength and conditioning, exercise prescription, and biomechanics (specifically relating to safe and effective exercise technique).
