AIS Female Performance & Health Initiative: What Every Coach Needs to Know
🗓 5 August 2026 | 🕡 Time 8:00-9:00pm AEST | 💻Online
Join Dr Rachel Harris, Sport and Exercise Physician and Project Lead of the AIS Female Performance & Health Initiative (FPHI), for an insightful session exploring the latest evidence and practical applications in female athlete health and performance. Since leading the initiative from its inception in 2019, Dr Harris has worked to address longstanding gaps in knowledge and support for female athletes, helping coaches, practitioners and sporting organisations better understand the unique factors influencing female performance.
This session will provide coaches with practical, evidence-informed insights into key topics including menstrual health, puberty, hormonal contraception, low energy availability, bone health, pelvic health, pregnancy and other female-specific considerations that can impact athlete wellbeing and performance. Participants will gain a greater understanding of how to create supportive environments, have informed conversations, and integrate female athlete health considerations into everyday coaching practice.
Whether you coach at community, pathway or high-performance level, this session will equip you with knowledge and tools to better support female athletes and contribute to healthier, more sustainable sporting experiences and performance outcomes.
