Maccabi has been proudly supporting our young girls in developing their football skills. Our numbers have been increasing - and given this year has been a tough one - it’s amazing to see so many girls on the pitch.
Two weeks ago 29 Jewish bowlers competed for the NSW Jewish Open Tenpin Bowling Trophy and the NSW Jewish Open Handicap Tournament held at the Manhattan Bowl at Mascot.
Maccabi Rugby continued fighting back from a horror run of injuries and unavailabilities which saw almost half of the club’s 40 players unavailable for selection two weeks ago to produce credible losses against the resurgent Alexandria Dukes in both grades on Saturday.

The Maccabi Hakoah Senior Football Club had its worst weekend in years with 4 of the 5 senior men's teams losing. Our Saturday Division 1 side kicked things off with a 1-3 loss to Maroubra after dominating the first half. They conceded a weak goal early but looked likely to overrun the Maroubra side. However Maroubra rallied and came back hard in the 2nd half with the lone goal to Maccabi scored by Daniel Danilov. Captain Steve Filler said "we are conceding far too many easy goals".
Last week Maccabi partnered up with Betar Youth Movement to provide an awesome sports session during Betar’s Day Camp! The program included a round robin of games such as ‘Golden Child’ and ‘Fruit Salad’ as well as Dodgeball, Cricket and Soccer. It was awesome to see the participants bond with each other and improve their skills.
Trials are for making mistakes and learning lessons, and Maccabi Rugby boys certainly did plenty of both in their final hit-out against Sydney Convicts before the season started.
Maccabi provided First Aid Courses to coaches & volunteers last week, as part of our ongoing preparation for the resumption of sports activities. Attendees included coaches & managers from across tennis, netball, basketball, swimming & soccer.
These courses are thanks to the Wolper Health Foundation, who are supporting Maccabi to provide safe environments for our players & teams.
