2021 Contender (Not The Nationals) Vic States
30 Competitors turned up at Blowgowrie Yacht Squadron for the 2021 Contender Vic States. Chiz and Sammy made the trip from SA, Andre has come down from Canberra, and Lukey Mairs made it from FNQ. Great effort lads!
Monday was blown out – so the boys hit the bar.
Tuesday saw 3 races in 20 knots. A tough day with many action packed moments on the course. The tough conditions saw Mark Bulka pull 3 bullets with Scott Cunningham close behind.
Day 3 of racing saw a beautiful clear morning, with a light breeze turn into a honking South Easterly at 14 – 18 knots for 3 races.
The day was all about starting practice, black flags and the tide….
Bulka still managed another 3 bullets, clear in front, with the rest of the fleet fighting hard for positions in the tight racing.
The last race of the day saw 7 black flags handed out by the RO, and the boys hitting the beach after 7pm – a long day at the office indeed.
The final day of racing at the Contender (Not The Nationals) Vic States saw a beautiful day for sitting at the Blairgowrie beach with a chair and an umbrella, and perhaps an Eskie with some cold ones.
A light breeze greeted our weary sailors on the race track. Only 1 race was sailed today.
A big left hander saw Scotty Cunningham smash the fleet, and take a strong win ahead of BYS’s Callum Burns in second, and Jeff Owen from McCrae taking third.
Ned Lindholm showed his old man Johnny how to do it today – shutting the door on the Johnny to take an 11th. Love your work Ned!
